At some time in most of our lives we encounter betrayal of one sort or another. The tendency is to react with recrimination and bitterness. Looking around, we might realize that the tragedy that has befallen us is common to a great many individuals. I would even say that betrayal and our reaction to it is of great spiritual importance. Even though Jesus crucifixion was at some sublime level a betrayal, His reaction to it was compassionate and ultimately he used it as a touchstone to make contact with his betrayers.
